Jefferson does his best

Jean-Claude Mourlevat

Another search takes them back to the land of men, but this time it is not a murder; Simona basically disappeared voluntarily, at least at first glance. Jefferson does what he can to help her. However, the question is whether Simona is actually worth it.

Jefferson the Hedgehog and his friends were enjoying a quiet period after their previous exciting adventure, until their friend, the rabbit Simona, disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Jefferson and Gilbert follow her trail.

At first glance, it seems that Simona left voluntarily. But is it really so? Jefferson does what he can to help her, but it's not clear if Simona cares at all and if she's actually better off where she is.

In this brilliant animal detective story, suitable for everyone from 10 to 100 years old, the author writes with a light pen and humor about difficult topics - about manipulation, responsibility, taking advantage of the misfortune of others and their vulnerability. He makes fun of limitations and especially: he opens extremely important and serious topics for children, which, as he himself says, can open their eyes and save their lives.

The book Jefferson does what he can is a free sequel to the book Jefferson (Artforum, 2022) by one of the most popular French authors for young people, Jean-Claude Mourlevat, winner of the prestigious Astrid Lindgren Award (the equivalent of the Nobel Prize in children's literature).

"Jean-Claude Mourlevat is a name that every school-aged child in France knows. His books have achieved the seemingly impossible: they are loved by both teachers and children."
