Summer stood in the hot air
Lukáš Cabala
A realistic novel in which the author processes his own memories of time spent overseas and takes the reader on an adventurous trip with little Nina and her family.
Nina grows up in the 1990s on the outskirts of Trenčín. Her father is a forester and often drags her to the mountains so she doesn't have to be in kindergarten. Her grandmother meets a rich German man named Erhard in Yugoslavia. Thanks to him, Nina and her parents experience unexpected trips overseas, but also situations they would rather not find themselves in. Friendships between children and adults are blown away by the sound of the Family Frost freezer truck, and a fateful shot rings out over the peaceful and dramatic days.
