Daria

Ada D'Adamo

An autobiographical novel about the complicated relationship between a mother and a severely disabled daughter, describing everyday struggles, but also moments full of tenderness and joy.

Daria is a daughter whose fate has been marked since birth by an undetected prenatal diagnosis. She is severely disabled both physically and mentally. Ada is her mother, who becomes seriously ill on the threshold of fifty. This illness is an opportunity for her to speak to her daughter and tell her their entire story together in the book. All communication takes place through the bodies of both Daria and Ada: everyday effort, anger, secrets, but also unexpected joys and moments of infinite tenderness. Words flow through the stream of time in a constant interweaving of past and present. An extraordinary story of strength, truth, pain and love, in which every moment experienced is offered to the reader as a precious gift.
