How to love your daughter

Hila Blum

An elderly woman stands in front of the house and secretly observes the family through the window: father, mother and two children. She looks at her granddaughters, whom she has never met due to the separation from her daughter. How did that happen?

The Israeli author's psychological drama sensitively portrays the sorrows of motherly love. It shows the dilemmas of motherhood, everyday life, but also the mistakes and lies of family life. The seemingly inexplicable estrangement between mother and daughter raises troubling questions and draws a fine line between protectiveness and possessiveness in relationships. The unraveling of memories evokes repressed emotions, and the author easily creates tension where the reader tries to figure out what went wrong.
